Contact details for Belgians in distress

  1. Last updated on

For very urgent matters (accidents, lost/stolen documents, etc. - no visas!) Belgians can reach the Embassy of Belgium in Sarajevo 24/7 by dialing +387 33 208 362.

In case of theft or loss of a Belgian travel document, and if you do not have another identity document allowing you to continue your trip, you can contact the Embassy of the Netherlands. The steps to follow are as follows:

  • Call DOCSTOP on 00800 2123 2123 (or +32 2 518 2123 if the number 00800 is not available) to block the lost or stolen travel document. DOCSTOP is a free service, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • In case of theft, report the theft to the local police station, which will issue you a certificate of theft. This certificate is required to obtain an Emergency Travel Document.
  • Contact the Embassy of the Netherlands in Sarajevo on +387 33 562 600 or SAR-CA@minbuza.nl to make an appointment to request an Emergency Travel Document. With this document, you can return to Belgium or another EU country where you live. The applicant must submit the following for the application: two passport photos, a flight certificate (if applicable), 100 BAM (cash or card). The Embassy of the Netherlands issues the document only after approval by the Embassy of Belgium in Zagreb. The document is valid for fifteen days.
